Video: US Memory Champ Helps You Program Your Memory
From Wired Magazine, this is an online extra for the magazine's Get Smarter package of articles, whose excellent video folks put together a piece of Alexis doing a mental workout with Chester Santos, who won the US Memory Championships this year.
Alexis reports that his memory can be embarrassingly bad, and here Chester helps him learn how to program his brain to remember a list of random words. They used a mnemonic method called the " body list" in which you associate images with parts of your body.
Now, Alexis only had a few words to memorize in this video, and it was the second pass at memorizing it, but he could feel that this memory system was extensible, that he could have piled another twenty words on and kept going.
